Signs of Juba

Grace and I had to go and guard Richard when he went to get someone registered at the airport today. While we were waiting with our sunglasses on (we left the matching hats and shirts and shoes at home), I noticed a sign in the airport. We couldn't figure out what it meant... and I was going to write the message here to see if any of YOU had a clue as to what it meant. But now neither Grace and I can remember what it said! I should have written it down. I'm sure I'll go back to the airport again someitme in the next few days... I know, it makes the story a little anti-climactic...

But there are still a few choice signs around here. This is one of my favorites:

One of the other signs that we see once in a while on our travels once again underscores the fact that life in this city is hard, and death is a part of everyone's lives:
We also passed the cholera clinic as we were driving around with Richard doing some errands this afternoon. It just keeps expanding. Cholera patients have to be kept in isolation, so they're just putting up more and more tents in a big field a few blocks away from the hospital (well, if you can call it a hospital!). I can't imagine what kind of care those patients are getting, since it's been SO hot, they're just in tents in a big open field, and as far as I know, the families wouldn't be allowed in to nurse them. We have so much to be thankful for with our health system, and all of the systems at home that prevent things like cholera outbreaks. Sorry to end on a bit of a low note there, but I think it's time to go play a round of frisbee golf.
