Anyways, last evening all the khawaija jumped in the new truck and bounced along the back roads of Juba. We encountered a few stares along the way - it's not every day that you see a pick up truck hauling around 1 Canadian, 3 Americans, 5 Brits, 1 Chinese, and 2 Sudanese. Of course, there were only 5 seats INSIDE the truck, so the rest of us were piled into the back.
We had to pass through a little bit of a traffic jam on the way to the plot.
Once we got there, though, we all piled out of the truck to walk around the new plot of land that belongs to us and will be used, one day, for a translation and literacy center. Eventually, all the offices for the Sudanese projects will be based there, as well as a center for holding workshops and meetings. At the moment, though, this is what it looks like:
But someday... me and Grace might be working on this plot, consulting with the teams that are working here. We had a nice time all together on the plot; it's been prayed over, and has even been commissioned by the first frisbee game, played by me and Grace, and witnessed by the local children. They're probably wondering just what kind of rif raf are moving into the neighborhood.
