It's hot

I'm off to bed in a minute, but I wanted to brag about the temperature today. Today, it got up to 42C, that's 107.6F, according to our neighbor's digital thermometer in her shaded porch. Now I know that's sort of a normal temperature if you live in Dallas or something, but consider these temperatures with no place to go for AC, and just a few wimpy ceiling fans... I woke up from my Sunday afternoon nap with sweat trickling down my neck. Even this evening, as we were sitting on the porch watching a DVD, it's 35C. No wonder I'm feeling a little on the warm side. This afternoon, in the heat of the day, both Grace and I were sitting with our feet in basins of cool water, which is a surprisingly good way to cool down. Once again, I'm SO thankful for the fact that we have plenty of good water here, and we don't have to fetch it in jerry cans or anything like that. We are so blessed.

At our expat fellowship group tonight we were talking about Philippians 4, where Paul discusses the fact that he's learned to be content in all circumstances, and we all committed ourselves to thinking about what it lovely and right and noble and praiseworthy about this place and about the work that God has put us here to do... rather than complain about the problems that we encounter. It was a good meeting with the group tonight, and it's always fun to meet new people and renew acquantances from before. The group was quite small tonight - perhaps in part because of the heat.

And now it's off to bed. Sorry that there's nothing too interesting to report today. Maybe something exciting will happen tomorrow... or not :D
