Ooohhh, it's new!

So Blogger has a new "clean, modern" interface.  Looks a bit blank to me.  Maybe it means it's also time to update my look... on my blog that is.   Though I AM wearing a different outfit today - since the zipper is broken on the skirt that matches my kikoi shirt, I decided to wear the shirt with a completely different skirt today.  And it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.  There are some advantages to having most of one's clothes in all the same colours - everything matches with everything else :)

But, sorry, no pictures.  In fact, I realized that I was in Nairobi for 5 whole days, and I didn't take a single photo.  That's gotta be some kind of record, I think.  I was tempted to take a picture of my brunch at the Java House at the airport (a most delicious breakfast sandwich, with bacon, sausage, an egg and melted cheese on a lovely toasted flaky croissant!), but I was aware of the fact that I didn't even take a picture of the friends I was with, so what would that say if I took a picture of my sandwich when I didn't even have a picture of my friends?!  So, sorry, no pictures of my fun and games in Nairobi.

It was good to be back - even though I love being in Nairobi and travelling, it's also nice to be in my own little house, sleeping under my own mossy net, with my own pillow.  I sure can't complain about the weather, either.  It was quite sweaty yesterday afternoon, because it had rained earlier in the day, and the hot sun had come out.  By the evening, though, it was pleasantly cool, and I even got out my second bed-spread/sheet thing and snuggled under it in the wee hours of the morning.  Lovely.

It's also the start of a new month! Can't believe how quickly the days fly by.  Around here, it's also coming up on the beginning of a new year!  Yes, that's right, I said a new year.  Our fiscal year, and hence our planning, goes from 1 October to 30 September.  So this is the month when we all go a bit crazy with our reviews of the previous year and planning for the coming year.  Always good to go back and review, and it's generally pretty encouraging to see what's been achieved over the year!  It's also exciting to look ahead to the coming year, and it's like trying to put together a giant puzzle, to juggle all the activities that we want to do in terms of literacy, translation, linguistics, Scripture Use... It's always a bit of a balancing act.  Starting from Monday, we will have epic all day meetings with each of the language teams that we work with, as well as all the various domain coordinators and members of language committees.  It really starts to feel like quite a marathon, to tell the truth, and is one of the times of the year that makes me extra happy I'm not a coordinator of anything!  It's hard enough for me to juggle the two teams that I mainly work with, and to try not to spread myself (and the team members!) too thin.

Tomorrow, my goal is to find something interesting to take a picture of, because this blog is getting a bit text heavy!
