Cliche?

I just found all sorts of amazing backgrounds for my blog!  And maybe it's a bit cliche, but somehow, tonight, I'm not feeling flowery or too much naturey, but the zebra stripes are really speaking to me.  They're calling my name.  Sort of like the fabric that I saw today at the market was calling my name.
It was so beautiful, and one of those pieces of fabric that I knew if I walked away from it, I would be thinking about it and wondering about it, and then I would go back to get it after it was already all sold out.  When you see something you like in these parts, you just have to get it then and there, 'cause you might not ever see it again!  So I'm not sure what I will do with it yet - I have a new house that I'm moving into someday, so could be curtains or pillow covers.  But it's a nice cotton fabric, which would make a lovely dress, too :)  So, we'll see how things pan out.  But I love it!  I have 6 yards of it now, which I got for less than $10!

I had a lovely day today.  Annamarie and I went to the market, just to see what we could see.  Thankfully, we both have gumboots, which were necessary in the market today, with all the rain we've been having.  I think we got a few odd looks because of the gum boots (mine are especially beautiful, as they are bright blue!), but I would so much rather get a few odd looks than some weird sort of mud-borne worm or disease, thank you very much.  We were both pleased to see that new fabrics and patterns are coming into the market.  Means that the economy here isn't completely crashing!  You know there's trouble brewing when the fabric shops become bare.  Today, though, wow, we saw some pretty fancy ball gowns in some of the shops.

We also visited a fancy hotel today.  It just opened a couple of months ago, with a little cafe/bar and a restaurant.  Annamarie and I met a friend there for a coffee and a plate of chips.  We were quite impressed with the place, actually.  I would definitely go back for a nice coffee, or for a meal.  The pizzas that we saw coming by to the next table looked amazing!  Since it's only been open a few months, everything still looks nice and clean and new, and the A/C still works, too!   We were curious about prices for the rooms, so we asked, and ended up getting a tour of the different kinds of rooms that they have.  Prices range from $160 up to $220.  I will probably just stick with the coffee and pizza, since that's rather rich for my blood.  It was nice to get a chance to peek inside the rooms, though, as I rarely get to see the insides of all these hotels which are popping up everywhere these days.

Me and Zane were fed by some South Africans again tonight.  I don't know what it is about South Africans, but man, they do know their food.  Amazing stew again tonight!  And Zane now gets to clean up the lamb rib bones that were in the stew.  So, his belly is pretty full at the moment, and he thinks he's going to get to sleep like this all night, at the end of my bed:

He's about to have a rude awakeneing, however, as I need to chuck him out of the house so I cna lock the door behind him!  (Zane doesn't stay in the house overnight - he wakes me up at 5:30 or 6am to go out to go pee if I leave him in the house - I can't stand having a stinky litter box in the house, so he just does all his, um, well, business outside!).

So, on that note, goodnight Zane.  Good night fair reader.

Oh, I get that all the time. Fabric talks to me a lot :) But less than $10 for 6 yards?

Love the fabric, Tanya.

Also, I've been meaning to tell you that some friends/missionaries our church supports are planning a move to where you are. Jon and Ginny Hildebrandt are currently with AIM Air (he's a pilot) in Loki. Just got an email from him talking about some of the dangerous flying/evacuations he's done earlier this week. So sad.
